Pressurised HF atomization
The encapsulation of bioactive and flavour oils is likely to be one of the most popular micro-encapsulation technologies.
And this for a multitude of good reasons: first of all that the micro dosing of liquid components in a solid formulation is quite troublesome. A solid dosage form containing liquid is preferable. Most of the industrially practiced processes require temperature or oxygen, many of them both, and bioactive oils’quality deteriorates easily under those conditions.
Droplet separation or atomization is one of the process steps, allowing the deposition of a matrix material around the oil droplets. Large and expensive machines with huge quantities of – oxidative – air are required.
bioNcap has developed a totally new technology, using ultrasonic atomization, bypassing most of the drawbacks of existing technologies.
Frequency, impact, amplitude are all inter-dependent parameters, to be mastered for use at industrial level of ultrasonic atomisation. The design and shape of the sonotrode must be compatible with the sonification properties of the generator and its booster. Generating homogeneous ringing and relaxing of the nozzle will results in a narrow particle size distribution.
bioNcap’s revolutionary nozzle design ( patent pending ), does not only accelerate the process, but when using inert gas as a propellant, we protect at the same the bioactive compound against oxydative catalysis caused by oxygen.
Not all oils have the same reactivity or flavour impact and the encapsulation system needs to be tailor made: We have developed the Li-Pro-Tect range of micro- encapsulated oils according to our philosophy “protection and release by design “.
